Day 1

place Day 1: Cuzco - Huacawasi, Peru

Andean Adventure Begins: Cusco to Huacawasi

Early Departure & Market Stop (6:00 a.m.)
Begin your adventure with a pickup from your Cusco hotel and travel through the stunning Sacred Valley. Make a delightful stop at Calca’s vibrant local market to grab breakfast or last-minute trekking supplies—don’t forget to buy fresh bread to share with Andean children en route.
Relaxing in Lares Hot Springs
Upon reaching Lares, rejuvenate your muscles with a soak in the natural hot springs (optional), while your kitchen team prepares a delicious lunch.
Trek into the Highlands
After lunch, set off on your gradual 4-5 hour ascent to Huacawasi (3,850m). The scenery grows ever more breathtaking, with rolling hills and friendly alpaca herds.
Camp Comfort

Arrive at camp to find tents awaiting you, plus a warming snack of local treats and hot tea before dinner. The night brings chilly mountain air—a perfect contrast to the day’s warmth.

Fuel up before tackling the highest point of the trek: the Ipsy Qocha pass (4,400m). The 3-hour ascent is challenging, but you’re rewarded with sweeping Andean views and encounters with llamas, alpacas, and patchwork farmland.

Descent by Lagoon

Descend past the sparkling Ipsy Qocha lagoon, surrounded by mountain silence and wild beauty, before arriving at Patacancha for a well-deserved lunch.

Journey to Ollantaytambo

Board a short ride to the historical town of Ollantaytambo. Here, your campsite awaits, promising rest and a festive dinner under the starry Andean sky.

Short Inca Trail: Gates of Machu Picchu

Early Train Adventure

Rise early for breakfast before catching the train to Km 104, your gateway to the Royal Inca Trail.

Inca Trail Trek:

Begin your journey to Chachabamba (2,270m), uncovering Inca mysteries. Continue your ascent to the awe-inspiring terraces of Wiñay Wayna (2,650m), one of the Inca Trail’s most beautiful sites. Picnic en-route with a box lunch amid lush scenery.

First Glimpse of Machu Picchu

Reach Inti Punku (the Sun Gate) for your heart-stopping first view of Machu Picchu, then descend to the famed citadel for a brief early exploration.

Aguas Calientes Retreat

Take the bus down to Aguas Calientes for a delicious dinner and a well-earned rest.

Sunrise Visit to Machu Picchu (5:30 a.m.)

Free Exploration & Optional Huayna Picchu Hike

Roam the site at your own pace or, if available, climb Huayna Picchu for breathtaking panoramic views.

Return via Aguas Calientes

Head back to Aguas Calientes, with optional hot springs relaxation (if time permits), before boarding the train for your scenic return to Cusco.
