Day 1

place Arrival in Quito & Welcome Dinner

Take a glimpse out of the window while approaching Quito Airport and have a first look at the beautiful Andean scenery that surrounds Ecuador’s capital. Upon arrival, your driver will welcome you and take you to your hotel in the city center. Relax a bit and get settled, before heading to El Ventanal Restaurant for a welcome dinner. Enjoy the spectacular views of Quito and try „canelazo“, a traditional hot drink. Is there a better way to start your honeymoon?

Day 2

place Quito City Tour & Cooking Class

You will explore Quito's historic city center today! Quito stands at an altitude of 2.850 m and the city center was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1978. Stroll through the narrow streets and visit some of the most important churches such as La Compañía (its interior is covered in gold), a great example for the "Baroque School of Quito". Explore "La Ronda", one of the oldest streets, and enjoy the 360° view from Panecillo Hill. Around noon, it is time to cook up some traditional dishes! If open, you will head to a local market to shop for fresh ingredients. Take a stroll through the hallways and be amazed by the variety of exotic fruits offered there. After the shopping tour, we return to the restaurant for some hands-on culinary experience. The chef will take you step by step through the process, and of course you will get to taste your creation for lunch! The rest of the afternoon and evening are at leisure.

Day 3

place Cotopaxi National Park

It is time to leave Ecuador’s capital and to head into the Central Andes. Your journey will lead you into the Cotopaxi National Park, home to the impressive Cotopaxi volcano, one of the highest active volcanoes on earth. You can choose from a variety of activities today: if you are into trekking, you can take a walk around Limpiopungo Lagoon and learn a lot about the high altitude flora and fauna from your guide. Afterwards, you can hike up to the refuge Jose Rivas on 4.800 m – or even further to the base of the glacier! Alternatively, you can take a 2- to 3-hours horseback riding excursion through the National Park and explore the landscapes. With a bit of luck, you can spot wild horses or even an Andean condor. If you are looking for some more action, you could also participate in a biking excursion through the National Park, biking along the base of the volcano on dirt roads, taking in the natural beauty of the lava-formed landscape. In the afternoon, you will head to a beautiful hacienda close to the National Park for your overnight stay. Enjoy the evening in front of the chimney and relax a bit after today’s adventure. Think about taking some couples pictures at the Hacienda – such a beautiful setting!

Day 4

place Following the Avenue of Volcanoes to Baños

If you are lucky and the weather is good, you might be able to spot the perfectly-shaped cone of Cotopaxi volcano – and other volcanoes in the surroundings – in the morning. After a delicious breakfast, you will continue your journey along what is known as the “Avenue of the Volcanoes” until reaching Baños, one of Ecuador’s outdoor hotspots. After settling into your hotel, start exploring this small town, tucked between towering ridges of mountains and surrounded by ever-flowing waterfalls. Visit for example “Casa del Árbol”, famous for its swing overlooking the valley of Baños and the Tungurahua volcano, or relax a couple of hours in the hot springs. You can also do short hikes in the surroundings, enjoy a coffee at “Café del Cielo” with spectacular views of Baños, or just take a stroll through town and visit the well-known cathedral. Maybe you are up for some salsa dancing in the evening?

Day 6

place Pailón del Diablo Waterfall & Transfer to Misahualli

Heading east, you will follow the “Avenue of the Waterfalls” and visit the famous “Pailón del Diablo” waterfall (the “Devil’s Cauldron”), a raging cascade tucked between canyon walls. From the parking lot, you will walk approx. 15 minutes down. The return can become a bit longer. After this excursion, you will continue traveling to Misahualli, a small village in the foothills of the Ecuadorian Amazon. Upon arrival at the rainforest lodge, you will be welcomed and will enjoy a delicious lunch and a short break. Afterwards, you can choose from a variety of first activities, for example: Canoe ride: Explore the beautiful Napo River by canoe and watch out for colorful birds or monkeys hopping from tree to tree. Let the magic of the rainforest work, surrounded by lush green forest, and just enjoy the excursion on the river. Tubing: A fun and different way to explore the rivers! Float along either Misahualli River or Napo River, and choose the duration of the activity. It is a great adventure, for both adults and children. Chocolate session: Are you a chocolate lover and always up to a sweet treat? Then a chocolate session is the right choice for you! During this activity, you can prepare your own chocolate and learn a lot about the local cocoa harvest and the chocolate production. The guide will explain to you the history and the benefits of cocoa, and you will participate in making your own chocolate according to your wishes: a sweet one, a darker one, or a milk chocolate? Additionally, you can always enjoy the facilities of the lodge, such as the comfortable common rooms or the swimming pool. The lodge offers all the comfort that you are seeking during your honeymoon.

Kichwa Community Visit: The area around Archidona, Tena, and Misahualli is home to many different kichwa communities: Shiripuno, Machacu Yacu, Sinchi Warmi, Santa Barbara, Awarina, and many more. You can decide between a half-day or a full-day visit. Learn a lot about their traditions and culture and participate in their traditional dances, make homemade chocolate or traditional handicrafts, look for gold in the river – whatever you are up to! If you want to, you can schedule a massage or another treatment in the lodge’s spa (at additional cost).

You can even jump from one of the waterfalls into the natural pools, if you are not too scared! During the hike, enjoy the magic of the rainforest and listen to the stories that the guide will tell you. Rafting / Kayaking: If you are looking for some adrenaline, these are the activities to choose! Explore one of the beautiful rivers in the surroundings, and enjoy the magic of the jungle while paddling down the water. Night walk: Exploring the rainforest at night is like being in another world!
