Day 1
Day 1: UROS – TAQUILE
Our kayaking adventure on Lake Titicaca starts early, with a convenient 6:20 am pick-up from your hotel. A short 10-minute drive leads us to the lakeshore, where you'll be outfitted with all necessary kayaking equipment, including kayaks, life jackets, and paddles. After brief safety instructions from our knowledgeable guide, you'll set off on a 1.5-hour paddle through the serene waters of the Titicaca National Reserve.
During the journey, we’ll pause at three key spots. Our first stop is just a few minutes in to admire the historic "Yavari," one of the oldest steamships that sailed the lake. We then paddle into the heart of the reserve, where the dense reeds form a unique aquatic landscape, reminiscent of a reed forest. Here, you'll navigate narrow channels, traditionally used by the Uros people, and have the opportunity to observe diverse wildlife such as Andean coots, ruddy ducks, and cormorants.
Our final stop is near tiny Foroba Island, where a brief ten-minute rest allows you to take in the tranquil surroundings. After completing the paddle, we arrive at the unique Uros floating islands. Here, you'll spend about an hour learning about the fascinating lifestyle of the Uros people, who live on these handmade islands. This enriching experience wraps up your kayaking tour before you continue with the next portion of your day’s adventure.
