Step outside your hotel to take in your first impressions of Vietnam’s capital, with its bustling streets and vibrant local life. In the evening, you have the option to attend a cultural performance, such as a traditional water puppet show or other forms of Vietnamese theater like Ca Tru, Tuong, or Cheo. If your arrival falls on a weekend, you can visit the lively night market in the Old Quarter. You spend your first night in Hanoi.

Day 2: Hanoi City Tour | Landmarks and Local Life
Your day begins with an 8:00 AM departure from your hotel by van. The first stop is the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and its surrounding residential grounds, where you learn about the life and legacy of Ho Chi Minh. Next, you visit the Temple of Literature, the site of Vietnam’s first university, and watch a traditional music performance. Lunch is on your own. In the afternoon, you choose from several museums or temples to visit, such as the Museum of Ethnology, the Women’s Museum, the History Museum, or Quan Thanh Temple. Later, you take an electric car ride around Hoan Kiem Lake and through Hanoi’s Old Quarter, immersing yourself in the city’s daily rhythms. The day concludes with a Water Puppet Show, a popular cultural experience. Afterward, you may return to your hotel or spend the evening enjoying the city at your leisure. You are back at your hotel around 5:00 PM, with dinner on your own and an overnight stay in Hanoi. The Temple of Literature, built in 1070, is dedicated to Confucius and is considered one of Hanoi’s most important historical sites.

Hanoi - Mai Chau – Pu Luong
You depart from your hotel at 8:00 AM and travel to Mai Chau. Upon arrival at Poom Coom village, home to the Thai ethnic minority, you take a short walk to meet local residents before having lunch. Around 1:00 PM, you continue with a one-hour car ride, then begin trekking through the Pu Luong Nature Reserve. The hike is of intermediate difficulty, with some uphill sections, and offers expansive views of villages and terraced rice fields. By late afternoon, around 4:30 PM, you arrive at Don Village and check in at the Pu Luong eco lodge, which overlooks rice terraces and the surrounding mountain range. You have time to explore the village of the Thai minority or relax by swimming in the lodge’s pool. Dinner is served at the lodge, and you spend the night in Don Village. Pu Luong Nature Reserve is known for its biodiversity and traditional villages, providing a glimpse into rural life in northern Vietnam.

Day 4: Trek to Hieu Village | Valleys, Terraces, and Waterfalls
You are encouraged to wake up early to observe morning activities in the village. After breakfast, you set out around 8:00 AM for a day of trekking through Pu Luong’s hidden areas. The route takes you past scenic valleys, terraced fields, and peaceful villages. You stop for a picnic lunch along the way before continuing your trek, eventually arriving at Hieu Village in the afternoon. Once in Hieu Village, you have time to rest, then you are free to stroll through the village, interact with local residents, or visit a nearby waterfall. You return to the homestay around 5:00 PM for dinner and spend the night there. The region’s terraced rice fields are a traditional agricultural technique, allowing farmers to cultivate steep hillsides efficiently and sustainably.

Day 5: Hieu Village to Nua Village | Trekking Through Remote Communities
After breakfast at your homestay, you begin the day at 8:00 AM with another trek, traveling from village to village. Along the way, you stop in several communities, meeting local residents and learning about their daily lives. Lunch is taken en route. You follow local paths, which may be muddy, passing through rice paddies until you reach your homestay in Nua Village at approximately 4:00 PM. Upon arrival, you have time to rest, take a shower, and then share dinner with the host family. You spend the night at the local house.

Day 6: Nua Village to Son Village | Challenging Trek Through Forest and Mountains
You leave your homestay early, setting out at 7:00 AM or sooner for the most demanding trek of your journey. The route climbs uphill through tropical forest and goes deeper into Pu Luong Nature Reserve. Along the way, you pass through several ethnic villages and stop for a picnic lunch. Depending on your fitness level and the weather, you may reach Son Village in time to witness a sunset, or you might arrive after dark. Dinner is served at your Thai homestay, where you spend the night.
Pu Luong’s forests are part of a protected area established to preserve the region’s rich biodiversity and support the livelihoods of its ethnic minority communities.

Day 7: Son Village Project | Community Volunteering
Today you focus on supporting the community project in Son Village, which sits at an elevation of over 1,000 meters. The day is dedicated to hands-on volunteer work and interacting with local residents as you help address this essential need. All meals are provided at your Thai homestay, where you also spend the night.

Day 11: Son Village to Hanoi | Trekking and Return Journey
After breakfast prepared by your guide, you begin trekking at 8:00 AM. The route takes you through gentle ups and downs, passing rice paddies and sections of Pu Luong jungle for about 2.5 hours until you reach Ton Village. There, your driver meets you for a transfer to Muong Khen town, where you stop for lunch. Following lunch, you continue by vehicle on a four-hour drive back to Hanoi. Upon arrival, you check in to your hotel and have the evening free. You spend the night in Hanoi.
Ton Village and the surrounding areas are part of the Pu Luong Nature Reserve, established to protect local biodiversity and support sustainable livelihoods for ethnic minority communities.

Day 12: Hanoi to Bai Tu Long Bay | Cruise and Kayaking
You depart Hanoi at 8:00 AM by shared van, traveling to the coast. After an approximately four-hour drive, you arrive at the port around noon and board your cruise vessel. Once checked into your cabin, you receive a trip briefing and enjoy a fresh local seafood lunch as the boat begins its journey into Bai Tu Long Bay. During the afternoon, you stop to swim and visit a mysterious cave, then have time to relax on a secluded island beach or explore the bay by kayak. Dinner is served on board, and you have the chance to watch the sunset before spending the night on the cruise.
Bai Tu Long Bay, located northeast of the more famous Ha Long Bay, is known for its tranquil waters, limestone islands, and less crowded atmosphere.

Day 13: Bai Tu Long Bay to Hanoi | Sunrise and Return
You have the option to rise early and experience the sunrise over Bai Tu Long Bay, enjoying the peaceful scenery. Breakfast is served around 8:00 AM, followed by a short rowboat excursion with local residents. Later, you have the chance to swim once more in the bay before checking out of your cabin at 11:45 AM. Lunch is served on board as the boat makes its way back to the harbor. After disembarking, you are driven back to Hanoi, arriving around 5:00 PM. You check in to your hotel and have the evening free to spend as you wish. You stay overnight in Hanoi.

Day 14: Hanoi Departure | Farewell and Transfer
On your final day, you have breakfast at your hotel and check out before 12:00 PM. Depending on your flight time, you may have some free time for last-minute shopping or a final walk around Hanoi. When it is time to leave, you are transferred to Noi Bai International Airport for your departure flight.
Noi Bai International Airport is the largest airport in northern Vietnam and serves as the main gateway for international and domestic flights to and from Hanoi.
