Day 1

place Full Day Helsinki Tour and Sightseeing and Night Train to Rovaniemi

Beginning in the capital city of Finland, Helsinki, explore the city’s most prominent cathedrals: The Helsinki Cathedral and Uspenski Cathedral. Built in the 1800s, the cathedrals were built while Finland was a part of Russia. Now, the cathedrals are landmarks of Helsinki. Next, wander the outdoor Kauppatori Market. Filled with everything from local produce to souvenirs, Kauppatori creates a vibrant atmosphere within the city. The last stop in this city tour is the Sibelius Park. In the heart sits a monument to Sibelius: a renowned Finnish composer accredited with helping Finland develop a national identity. The park is on the waterfront of a large bay with one of the best cafés in Helsinki nearby. Your day concludes with an overnight train to Rovaniemi.

Depending on the time of the year, the lake could be frozen up to 30 cm down; use your ice drills to get down to moving water. If luck is on your side, you can try your hand at catching a trophy. As the day starts coming to an end, you will settle down near a campfire and enjoy a barbecue lunch.
