Is there any better plan for summer than travelling? Pack your bags and let’s go! Start this trip Backpacking through Europe – Young Europe – our adventure through Europe where you’ll get to know young peopel from all over the world and have unforgetable experiences. After the airport pick up we will take tour of the city to get first look at Madrid. We will start with Madrid de los Austrias, a large area of the capital of Spain, corresponding to the medieval layout of the city where we can find the famous Plaza Mayor, the Puerta del Sol, Plaza de Oriente as well as the Royal Palace, the Sabatini gardens or the Almudena Cathedral.

For today on this trip Backpacking through Europe you can choose to have a few more hours discovering Madrid and its charms or you can choose of the the two optional activities that we offer: Escape to Toledo or an adrenaline filled day in the Warner Attraction Park. Do you choose to stay in Madrid? Great. There’s still lots of things to see! During the day we recommend visiting Retiro Park, known by many as the “Central Park of Madrid”. Very close to there you will find the Atocha Train Station, where inside you can visit the 11M Monument, a cylindric structure that is 11 metres high, dedicated to the victims of the bombings in Madrid that happened in March 2004. A short walk away are also other monuments like the Alcalá Gates of the Palace of Communications, nowadays HQ to the town hall and council, and without a doubt one of the most emblematic buildings of the city. In the afternoon/ evening of this backpacking trip, we recommend enjoying the warmth of Spring in some of the capital´s terraces. We know it´s going to be a difficult choice, which one will you choose?We recommend La Azotea del Círculo de Bellas Artes or the terrace at Ginkgo Sky Bar.

Madrid - Bus
Last hours to discover Madrid! Are you ready? On this day, Backpacking through Europe, during the free time we leave you can visit some of the most important museums in the city: the Prado Museum, the Reina Sofía Museum or the Thyssen Bornemisza Museum. More of a football fan? Believe it or not, one of the most visited museums in the capital is the Santiago Bernabeu museum! From the hand of Unitrips you will have the opportunity to know one of the most emblematic football stadiums in the world, and if you want, you can enjoy the trophies achieved by Real Madrid throughout its history in your spare time. And if you’re not a museum person: what about tapas? Madrid offers you a large number of markets such as the Mercado de San Miguel or the Mercado de San Antón. They are very fashionable gastronomic spaces that will completely surprise you. After a few hours of rest, at night we will continue one of our tours of Italy from Madrid and we will get on the bus to embark on our great adventure and wake up in the next city on our tour, a city that we cannot miss …

Barcelona - Crucero
We wake up in Barcelona! Today, on our trip Backpacking through Europe, you will enjoy the day walking through this beautiful city. Its streets, its corners, its squares, its magnificent old town and architecture have made it the world tourist capital that we know today. La Sagrada Familia, Passeig de Gracia, La Casa Batlló, the mythical Ramblas and the Gothic Quarter with its impressive cathedral are only a small part of everything the city has to offer. From Unitrips we are at your disposal to give you some tips so that you know the essentials of Barcelona! In the afternoon / evening, we will continue one of our tours of Italy from Madrid and we will go to the port to embark on a cruise. We will spend the night in an elegant boat with all the necessary facilities to make the tour very enjoyable: disco, video game room, restaurants, 24-hour cafes, swimming pool, gym, health center, casino … So have a gin and tonic and take in that warm Mediterranean breeze!

After a whole day enjoying the Mediterranean breeze, we will arrive at Civitavecchia where our Eurobus will be await us to take us to the former Caput Mundi, Rome to truly begin our route around Italy.We will arrive later on in the evening, therefore we will head straight to bed so we can get lots of rest in preparation for tomorrow!

Rome is known as the “Eternal City”, and you will understand why once we arrive. Time appears to have stopped here hundreds of years back due to the large number of remaining monuments and remains of imposing buildings, which males strolling through the narrow streets of Rome like a trip back in time to the capital’s golden age. Italy’s famous capital, otherwise known as the old “Caput Mundi” (Leader of the world) and all of its history await us. There are so many reasons to visit Rome, Backpacking through Europe, things that make you fall in love with it and oblige you to return! A few of these reasons are obviously the incredible food and the lively atmosphere that you will find in every corner of the city.

Rome, without a doubt, is a city that takes up a lot of time from the tourists that come to visit it… considering the large number of monuments and sites it is home to, this is no surprise! Today on this Tour Italy from Madrid you will have the chance to see some of these famous sites, most importantly you will be able to visit the most popular monument in Italy: the Colosseum. The latter, despite being half demolished, continues to radiate historical charm. Later, you will be able to visit the Roman Forums, otherwise known as the commercial, religious, political and judicial centre of the ancient city of Rome.

Rome - Florence
Today, Backpacking through Europe, we will wake up early and head towards the Vatican. After putting Florence in the GPS, which we will visit tomorrow, we will stop off at the Vatican. Take note, Florence is an extremely lively city and has great night life, so make sure you experience a real university party whilst you are here! We will spend the night near Florence, the birthplace of the renaissance.

Florence - Pisa - Venice
“Buongiorno Principessa” said Benigni, an actor from the city of Florence, in the film “Life is Beautiful”. Today, Backpacking through Europe, you will have the chance to admire numerous incredible works of art in the Museum of the Uffizi. If walking round an exhibition hall is not for you, you can take a stunning walk up the famous hills where you can get to the fantastic viewpoint of the fanciful arch of Brunelleschi which dominates the city. Unitrips offers you an alternative with which you will have to make a difficult decision: enjoy a few more hours of Florence, or make an express visit to see one of the most representative points of the country: the Tower of Pisa! You will have the opportunity to take the most original photo in front of the Tower and enjoy some pizza slices in the small town.

Fall in love with this city! Venice is one of the most photographed places in the world. Don’t waste time, grab your camera and find your inner photographer; bridges, Vaporettos and Gondolas are all waiting to be snapped! Make sure you take some time as you backpack through Europe to enjoy the Byzantine influenced art which is best exemplifed in the architecture of the Basillica of San Marco. You should also stroll down the canal, starting from the Rialto Bridge. You could also just get lost in the narrow streets and see where you end up!

Venice - Neuschwanstein - Munich
It´s time to say goodbye to Italy, to continue this trip Backpacking through Europe. Another day… another country, Germany! From here we will cross part of Bavaria to get to Munich, its capital, famous for its beer festival, and the Bayern! We will visit the Mad King’s Castle, hop on scooters and get ready to try something very typical from here: beer! It´s not only a rich, modern and dazzling city, it also has a lot of history.

Munich - Dachau - Frankfurt
Today as we go Backpacking through Europe we will wake up in Germany. We will spend our morning exploring the beautiful city of Munich. We will also give you the chance to join us on an optional activity or alternatively you can stay in Munich to rest and explore by yourselves. We will stop to visit its cathedral and Marien Platz with its famous gothic chime clock, which has 43 bells and 32 animated figures that dance every day. We’ll continue in Germany, board our Unibus which will take us towards the River Main, and the financial centre of Germany: Frankfurt. Today, we have quite a long journey ahead of us, so we advise you to get comfortable, relax, and enjoy the views of the rolling hills of southern Germany. The fifth largest city in Germany, Frankfurt has an important history and economy. Similar to most of German cities, it was left destroyed after the Second World War and has since been reconstructed completely. Today, it’s an important economic and financial hub in Europe, sometimes known as “the financial capital of the European Union”. It is known for its impressive gothic St Bartholomew’s gothic Cathedral, which, throughout its life has become a symbol for national unity in Germany, and also for the botanical gardens and the medieval architecture of the famous “Römer” house.

Frankfurt – Cologne – Ámsterdam
Guten Morgen Deutschland! With a lot of energy going Backpacking through Europe, we will visit the centre of Cologne, the city famous for its waters and for the most gothic cathedral of all cathedrals! We will start our day looking at the incredible views the city has to offer from the other side of its famous bridge. We can add a lock to the hundreds of others on the bridge, have some lunch, as in the afternoon, the free city of Amsterdam awaits us! In the afternoon we’ll arrive in Amsterdam, dump our bags, and go straight out to enjoy the famous Red Light District by night. The night is young and life is short, let’s go have fun! Culture and liberal politics have made Amsterdam a world reference for liberal people all over the world, especially those who push for the legalization of soft drugs (marijuana and hashish) and the legalization of prostitution. But Amsterdam is not just coffee shops and red light district, take a walk through the Van Gogh Museum, Rembrandt museum, the Moco or Rijksmuseum or visit the Anne Frank House, and if you fancy a beer, Heineken is your star choice! Amsterdam – Brussels - Bruges And Ghent
Today Backpacking through Europe we will visit another BENELUX country, after the NE, we will take on the BE of Belgium, otherwise known as the heart of the EU. Upon our arrival in Brussels, you will have to decide what to do! You can stay in Brussels and rest, enjoy the many parks it has to offer or stroll down the many avenues full of shops and resturants. Alternatively you can hop back on the Unitrips bus and come with us to the north of Belgium. We will be travelling to Bruges and Ghent, the 2 Flemish cities, par exellence. We will begin the day in beautiful university city of Ghent and will we finish by putting the cherry on top of the cake with a visit to Bruges. Bruges is the most visited city in Belgium, after the captial. We will also stop at the Atomium to take lots of photos! You will we amazed how well these two medieval cities have been preserved over the years, the northern European architectual style remains completely intact. Brussels – París
We’ll say our goodbyes to the amazing Brussels! It’s time to set our GPS in the direction of where we’ve all been waiting for… Paris!! After breakfast we will head towards “The City of Lights”. It’s known for being the cosmopolitan capital of France and also it’s one of the most populated and visited cities of Europe. The city of Love! After leaving our suitcases we´ll take a walk through Paris. We´ll start at the Notre Dame, the great Lady of Paris, and passing by the Pont Neuf, we will admire the river of Paris, The Seine, passing in front of the museum which holds the most famous painting in the world, Leonardo da Vinci´s Mona Lisa. Of course, we will finish the walk at the most famous tower, The Eiffel Tower, the most iconic feature of the French capital, which has become the most sold key chain in the world. Paris - Night on bus
Good morning! It´s time to start our day as we go Backpacking through Europe. In the morning you can take part in some activities we recommend, like walking by the Versaille Palace, one of the most visited place in France which attracts thousands of tourists. Or if you decide to spend your free time enjoying the city at your own leisure now is the time to go to the Louvre and enjoy its endless exhibitions, or at least wink at the Mona Lisa. Perhaps if you prefer modern architecture you’ll prefer the futuristic skyscrapers of La Defense or climb the Eiffel Tower. At night, we will begin heading back to Madrid on our bus.
